(03/04/24; ARLINGTON, VA) – The primary and general elections of 2024 represent critical milestones in the democratic process of the United States, carrying immense significance for the nation’s future trajectory. Primary elections show the pulse of the nation early, and the Presidential Election in November will arguably have permanent and residual effects for generations to come on the state of our Union. Many states are also putting ballot initiatives and referenda on the ballot that will have a big impact in every aspect of our local communities, including local police departments.
Grassroots political organization American Police Officers Alliance publishes a Voter Guide ahead of every election cycle and released their most current guide on their website last week. The 2024 Voter guide aims to inform and mobilize voters ahead of the upcoming elections with a particular emphasis on issues on protecting the second amendment, Constitutional Sheriffs, and spiraling crime rates related to the defunding movement.
“This guide offers a quick introduction to a few of the most important issues and relevant political topics that will impact police in the years to come,” Executive Director Daniel Stuebs commented. “We urge pro-law enforcement citizens to utilize this free resource as a starting point to do more research on their local elections and educate themselves on issues facing police and sheriffs in their communities and on a larger scale throughout the country.
American Police Officers Alliance encourages voters to review the guide thoroughly and consider these issues when deciding how to cast your ballots in the upcoming elections. By showing up to vote in local, state, and federal elections, voters can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their communities and promoting policies that prioritize law enforcement and public safety. Although every election carries heavy implications and weight for this country, this is truly is an imperative election and has the potential to significantly impact our law enforcement and law abiding citizens alike.
