ARLINGTON, Virginia – As part of American Police Officers Alliance’s commitment to examine the issues that affect law enforcement officers and their relationship with the communities they serve, the organization has published the first in a series of articles about police oversight boards. It has reviewed what these agencies are and their purpose, as well as review their impact, membership, and effects on the departments subject to them.
“The issue of police oversight boards is one that should concern every American who supports our men and women in law enforcement,” said Dan Stuebs, Political Director of the American Police Officers Alliance. “Police oversight boards substitute the judgment of police professionals who understand the profession for other individuals who only serve as political appointees or to serve a particular persuasion.”
The American Police Officers Alliance is committed to engage the public and voters on the issues surrounding police oversight boards and to oppose any future efforts that do nothing to improve the status of law enforcement in their respective communities.
The American Police Officers Alliance is a national political organization organized under Section 527. Supporters are made up of police, citizens, organizations and public supporters working together to ensure our nation’s finest and our citizens have a unified voice in politics.
