American Police Officers Alliance worked with the Congressional Leadership Fund on November 2-4 in Duluth, Minnesota. American Police Officers Alliance volunteers worked with the Congressional Leadership Fund to canvass the neighborhoods in the City of Duluth to get out the vote for former police officer Pete Stauber who ran for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District.
The race for the 8th Congressional District was an open seat vacated by the retirement of Congressman Rick Nolan. Nolan’s retirement led to this swing seat in Congress attracted national attention and money.
Board members Ryan Meyer and Bill Casey, along with four other volunteers of the Congressional Leadership Fund, knocked on nearly 1,000 doors in Duluth during the final weekend before the election. The response our board members received regarding Stauber’s agenda was very pleasant as they appreciated his past service to the Duluth Police Department.
American Police Officers Alliance’s partnership with the Congressional Leadership Fund gave our board the opportunity to work with an organization that viewed law enforcement as a top issue among voters in the district. One issue within law enforcement that was of key importance is the opiates crisis. Like other states, Minnesota has been gripped by the opiates crisis. When Stauber served on the Duluth Police, he dealt first hand with families that lost loved ones to the scourge of addiction.
The weather up in Duluth had plenty of everything from sunny on Saturday and down pouring rain on Sunday. It did not stop our team from getting the message out about Stauber. We are appreciative of everyone who we came in contact with and for their hospitality in the Duluth Metro Region. We look forward to working with Congressional Leadership Fund in the future in key Congressional contests involving current or former members of law enforcement.
